THE Social Security System (SSS) announced the rollout of its cashless fare system at LRT-2’s Legarda Station in Manila.
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph de Claro and Finance Secretary and Social Security Commission Chairman Frederick Go were present during the launch.
“Our SSS members can now conveniently pay directly at designated turnstiles using their MySSS cards,” de Claro said on Thursday.
He added that the MySSS fare system is integrated with the Automated Fare Collection System, an initiative by the Light Rail Transit Authority and the Department of Transportation.
The initiative, de Claro said, aims to streamline fare payments, reduce reliance on cash and provide commuters with a faster and more seamless travel experience.
The cashless fare system is powered by Visa and Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), an SSS partner bank for the MySSS Card, de Claro said.
As part of RCBC’s PISO Fare Cashback Promo, holders of the MySSS Card powered by RCBC DiskarTech may enjoy the promo until July 31 when using their card, allowing eligible cardholders to ride for as low as P1, subject to the promo’s terms and conditions.
De Claro said MySSS Card was designed as a tap-to-pay transit card, eliminating the need to buy single-journey tickets or reload traditional beep cards.
